Subdomain is not acessible

EHCP 0.29.15.
DEBIAN 5.05

I set a virtual host up, everything worked OK. I then tried setting up a subdomain, and I got a message telling that everything was set up OK, but when I try the subdomain, I get a message that the subdomain was not found.

The following was added by EHCP to /etc/apache2/apache2.conf:

Include /var/www/new/ehcp/apachehcp.conf
Include /var/www/new/ehcp/apachehcp_subdomains.conf
Include /var/www/new/ehcp/apachehcp_auth.conf
Include /var/www/new/ehcp/apachehcp_passivedomains.conf

I now have the following directories:

/var/www/new/

Inside that directory, I now have the following directories:

- ehcp (has in it all the ehcp files, and .conf files)
- images_default_index
- vhosts (it has in it an ehcp directory with only an index.html file)

I also have: /var/www/vhosts and in this directory, I have the domain I created earilier:

/var/www/vhosts/mydomain/mydomain.com/httpdocs/subdomains/sandbox (sandbox is the name of the subdomain).

The file Include /var/www/new/ehcp/apachehcp_subdomains.conf seems to have in it the right information:

#____________start of sandbox.blabplatform.com__paneluser:mydomain_reseller:_id:1____________

Any ideas?

are you on same lan as your server? or are you working on your server.
if yes, you need to define your domain/subdomain in your local hosts file

try also:
/etc/init.d/apache2 restart
this is normally done by ehcp. just i said to be sure.

I did restart apache2, but I am still getting the error.

I am not sure what you mean by being on the same LAN as my server. I am using my laptop to connect to my server via EHCP (mydomain.com), log on to the EHCP control panel, create a Vhost (domain), which I can then access fine from my laptop, and then I create the subdomain, and as you can see from the files and messages, it looks fine, but I still cannot access the subdomain from my laptop.

My laptop and the server I am managing are on different static IP addresses.

your situation is strange. as you said, your configs seems ok.

in this case, we need to diagnose your case more deeply.

please send your error text, even your screenshot,
also look at apache logs, what is seen on apache access logs, maybe error log.

maybe you connect to somewhere wrong..
or subdomain goes to somewhere else.

on your client console,
try:
host subdomain.domain.com
or
host www.subdomain.domain.com

does it sovle to right ip address ?

No. It is not resolving to the right address. When I do:
sandbox.mydomain.com, it resolves to my laptop's ip address

then, most probably, you are using your local hosts file to make it resolve your laptop.
or you are using something else.

remove those things that makes it resolve your laptop,
then, when you see it resolves the webserver, it should work i think.

i hope this was useful.

1st of all I'd like to thanks the developers for EHCP. - Great work guys.

Issue I run into looks similar to upper mentioned.
The domains on the test machine works fine ( 21 at the moment ) but neither are accessible with www nor sub domains are...I'll try to figure it out and to inform You if I find the problem source.

Hi, I tried to make a link shop.airkayu.com to airkayu.com/shop, but didn't not succeed. So, I tried to create a new subdomain at shop.airkayu.com and put a test page there ended up no goal. Page Error. May I know what's the go around?

Why don't you use simple http redirect ? symlinking may not work there. it has a different goal .
