For new comers to EHCP - Easy install

Hi :)

I've just recently discovered EHCP and I'm impressed by it's simplicity. I tried to install it using the documentation on the download page but there were too many issues, I was about to give the whole thing a miss when I noticed a post on a popular website I often visit.

Here are some very simple and straight forward steps to get you going. Please note that I created a brand new server with Debian 7.3 (wheezy).

Goto your terminal window and copy then paste this:

wget -O ehcp.tgz
tar -zxvf ehcp.tgz
cd ehcpdev2

Follow all instructions and answer the questions.

Next: There is a problem with VSFTPD (the file transfer system to allow you to upload file to your websites)

Copy and paste all the text below (in one chunk):

echo "deb wheezy-updates main non-free contrib" >> \
/etc/apt/sources.list.d/wheezy-updates.cyconet.list; \
aptitude update; aptitude install -t wheezy-updates debian-cyconet-archive-keyring vsftpd && \
echo "allow_writeable_chroot=YES" >> /etc/vsftpd.conf && /etc/init.d/vsftpd restart

Next: There is also a problem with postfix but this is easily fixed:

apt-get install gdebi-core
wget -N -O "pop-before-smtp.deb" ""
gdebi pop-before-smtp.deb

Finally: vi /etc/postfix/
and change these lines:

smtps inet n - - - - smtpd
-o syslog_name=postfix/smtps
-o smtpd_tls_wrappermode=yes
-o smtpd_sasl_auth_enable=yes
-o smtpd_client_restrictions=permit_sasl_authenticated,reject
-o milter_macro_daemon_name=ORIGINATING

You will find they have a '#' at the start of each line, just remove it.

If you are not familiar with VI (the linux editor);
Press I to start editing, when finished press 'Esc' and :WQ then 'Enter'.

These changes with allow your mail server to send and receive mail using SSL (ports 993 & 465) using IMAP.

Best thing now is to restart your server:

Go to your IP address in your browser eg.
and there you have it.

There are a couple of other little problems like domain name setup in but that's only really important if your depend on rDNS.

Hope this helps!

Cheers, and have fun :)

good tutorial. thanks.

Being new to EHCP I have looked for the following in the forums.

I have now loaded EHCP about 8 times because I keep getting half way through I think, Then the install keeps asking for a Root user password for Mysql, which I have no idea what it wants have put several words in but no good, there is a remark that I should know the password or I should remember what it is.
Now I have install a clean Debiad 7 and an a ubuntu 14.04 and updated them accordingly. At now time was I asked for a Mysql Password, and at no time have I put one in ( So I would find it rather Hard to Remember it ) I have tried several time what it says about recovering it or replacing it, all that happens is it throws up errors, when you click links to go to txt files it comes up with ( 404 pages not found )
Is there a fixed Password I should know or what, I just can not go on loading it to this stage, am really starting to go mad, PLEASE HELP or tell me where to go to get help. See my sig what it says I am not getting any.
