.htaccess

Hi!
I'm running an ubuntu 8.04 server with ECHP 0.27. I tried to activate the rewrite (.htaccess).

I tried a2enmod rewrite

[root@mcserver:~# a2enmod rewrite This module is already enabled!]

And I put "AllowOverride All" in /etc/apache2/sites-available/default...

But dont work!

Forums:

Someone know how to resolv?

Please help me!

you need to activate .htaccess in your custom http settings.
apply appropriate apache directives for .htaccess in ehcp, custom http settings....

bug make sure that the apache commands that you enter in panel are correct. Otherwise, apache will fail to start and your panel will become unavailable...

if you panel becomes unaccessible because of this: go to your mysql console, and :
delete from customsettings;
insert into operations (op) values ('syncdomains');

these will restore apache settings,
then: in normal console: /etc/init.d/apache2 start

i will try to find necessarry apache directives for proper .htaccess operation...

Another subject: if you only want to use rewrite rules, then you may not need .htaccess files... you may do that rewrite in custom http settings directly..

see you.

But how I make a custom http settings to active .htaccess?

Thank you!
See you.

did you ever test to just put .htaccess file to your directory ?

just create a plain text file with name .htaccess and put this into your directory on server,
put some apache configuration directives in .htaccess files..

i think it is automatically read , no custom apache directive is needed, i think so... i am no tsure.

but, keep in mind that, not all apache directives can be used inside .htaccess files...
have a look at: http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.0/howto/htaccess.html

Here has not worked! I'm downloading the Unbuntu 8.10 to see if it will work.

i tested and saw that: .htaccess already works if you put it in your directory.
But note that: you cannot use all apache configuration directives in .htacces..

the directives that you can use inside .htaccess is limited...

The ehcp still does not work in Ubuntu 8.10?

yes it works i think, i use installed onto 8.10 and use it now.. in my production machine... production server...

if you need help,
please contact me by msn/email: info@ehcp.net or ehcpdeveloper@iyibirisi.com

then if possible, send me your login info, ip
then i will try to solve your problem.

I sent a mp for you. Did you see?

yes i replied... default theme is suggested now.
as of version 0.27:
old menu->list domains does not work.
use default theme. it works.

i fixed that in version 0.28 (not released yet.)

for .htaccess to work for rewriteengine,
you need to do on command line:
ln -s /etc/apache2/mods-available/rewrite.load /etc/apache2/mods-enabled/rewrite.load
(ehcp later than 0.29.08 does this automatically upon installation of ehcp)

to debug and troubleshoot of your apache errors,
send here please last few lines from /var/log/apache2/error.log
after entering the page related to error
